Column Sentry® FE is specifically designed for situations where a standard Column Sentry® would cover up important items mounted on the face of the column. Column Sentry® FE is a special version of the Column Sentry product outfitted with a cutout designed to allow and protect items mounted on the column. This cutout is 10" (25cm) wide by 8" (20cm) deep, resulting in a height of 34" at the cutout. FE stands for Fire Extinguisher, and this was the original purpose for this product. Customers needed to mount a fire extinguisher on the column, but because of OSHA regulations, could not mount this above the column protector. The cutout solution worked so well, it soon became popular where any type of item, such as electrical boxes or outlets were mounted to the face of the column.

Recently we have found that many customers are asking for the Column Sentry FE product to be made in red. This is an excellent way to not only protect the fire extinguishers on the column, but also to designate certain columns as having a fire extinguisher at that location. As you can see from the photo, the red Column Sentry FE designates the location of the fire extinguisher at that location. Other columns in this installation contain standard yellow Column Sentry products. In a fire or emergency situation, it would be very easy to find the location of fire extinguisher equipment in this facility.

The Column Sentry® FE product is available in both the 8"x8" and the 12"x12" size. The product is installed in the same manner as the standard Column Sentry® products. The cutout does not affect the location or the function of the hook & loop straps. Purchasing this product in red does not affect the price, but may delay shipment.

Column Sentry FE Sizes

There's a Column Sentry® for every column in your facility.

Column Sentry® brand column protectors are available in a number of sizes designed to fit a variety of interior columns found in most buildings. All Column Sentry® products are 42" (107cm) high. The products currently available are classified by outside dimension. Pricing is determined by the classification:

• Small: 14" (36cm) outside diameter, weighing 24 pounds(11kg)
• Medium: 24" (61cm) outside diameter, weighing 56 pounds (26kg)
• Large: 33" (84cm) outside diameter, weighing 75 pounds (34kg)
• Extra Large: 38" (96cm) outside diameter, weighing 100 pounds (46kg)
• FE: Same outer dimensions as Medium; has an 8"x10" cutout making them 34"
   high at the cutout

Each individual size is oversized approximately 1/8" and has an tolerance of +/- 1/8". The following are the sizes currently available and the appropriate column it should fit.

All of the Column Sentry products are made of a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) which is stress-crack resistant. They have a wall thickness of .25" and are UL Listed as UL94 Flame Class. Column Sentry can be shipped in the US via UPS or by Common Carrier at freight class 150 (14", 24" diameters) or Class 250 (33", 38" diameter).
